Celebrate Earth Day 2021 by Bringing Climate Home
Online
This Earth Day, more than ever, we all want to help tackle the climate emergency.
AIA Chicago has an idea for you.... Celebrate Earth Day 2021 by Bringing Climate Home.
This noontime meet-up will bring the architectural community together to cooperate in a strategic campaign to speed up the decarbonization of buildings. The climate emergency compels architects to learn how to design buildings that do not burn fossil fuels. The most effective way for architects to learn decarbonization is by doing it by and for ourselves—to make the professional personal. This session launches a campaign to sign up One Hundred Chicago Architects to commit to decarbonize their own homes, vehicles, and electrical supply in the next five years.
This session will:
- Introduce the Bring Climate Home campaign and its strategies.
- Showcase all-electric technologies and discuss their strengths and weaknesses.
- Discuss energy retrofit strategies.
- Provide a DIY checklist to inventory, track, and replace gas-burning devices.
- Organize an information exchange network.
Speakers:
- Doug Farr, FAIA, FCNU, LEED GA, Farr Associates
- Sachin Anand, PE, LEED AP BD+C, dbHMS
- Lindsey Elton, EcoAchievers
- Tom Bassett-Dilley, AIA, TBD Architects
- Michael Schaefer, Mitsubishi Electric Trane HVAC US
