AIA Contract Documents Update: Owner/Architect Agreements and New Sustainable Projects Exhibit
AIA Chicago, 35 East Wacker Drive, #250
Are you up to date on the revised AIA contract documents? Every ten years, AIA reviews and revises certain core documents – and 2017 is such a year. These revised documents were released at the AIA convention in April.
Whether you are new to using contract documents or want a refresher on how to select the appropriate AIA contract, as well as how to evaluate the suitability of alternative contract terms and language, you’ll want to attend this program. Learn about the new Sustainable Projects Exhibit and how it can provide a positive impact on the health and safety of building occupants.
Two Chicago architects, both members of the AIA Documents Committee, will present an overview of the A201-2017 General Conditions of the Contract for Construction, and the companion Owner-Contractor agreements (A101, A102, A103, A104, A105) and exhibits.
Speakers:
- Andrew D. Mendelson, FAIA, Senior Vice President, Chief Risk Management Officer, Berkley Design Professional
- Steven Weiss, FAIA, Principal and founder of Weiss Architects LLC
Light breakfast provided at 8:45 am. Program begins promptly at 9:00 am.
Since its inception in 1887, the AIA Documents Committee has been dedicated to creating and revising AIA Contract Documents. Qualified applicants for the AIA Documents Committee are licensed architects and members of the AIA actively engaged in the design and construction industry through employment in architectural firms or construction companies, or for building owners or developers. New members are appointed to maintain a balance of viewpoints based on diversity, including geography, firm size, practice type, and area of expertise. Members serve for ten-year terms. Numerous AIA Chicago members have served on this important committee.
