Objects Get Personal: Work from the Istanbul Design Biennial

Zoë Ryan, curator of the Second Istanbul Design Biennial, which took place in November and December 2014, will host a discussion with three Chicago design offices featured in the international exhibition. The design firms will present contemporary designed objects and discuss the role of designed objects in impacting culture and human behavior.
This presentation is the fourth installment in the SAIC Mitchell Lecture Series.
Speakers:
Zoë Ryan was named the Chair and John H. Bryan Curator of Architecture and Design at the Art institute of Chicago in 2011. Her career at the Art Institute began in 2006 when she was chosen as the first Neville Bryan Curator of Design in the museum’s Department of Architecture and Design. Zoë came to the Art Institute from the position of Senior Curator at New York City’s Van Alen Institute, an independent not-for-profit architectural organization dedicated to promoting inquiry into the processes that shape the design of public spaces.
