Prioritizing Equitable Design: Developing Strategies for Accommodating Practices
Online
The role of access in design is intrinsically linked to the topic of spatial equity and the right to free movement. Too often, accessibility is viewed by designers as an afterthought or worse, as a restrictor, rather than as a design generator. In this Equity, Diversity & Inclusion Committee-led panel discussion, our panelists will share their lived experiences as women, as architects, and as people with disabilities, as they discuss the challenges they’ve experienced in their paths to becoming licensed architects and how they’ve overcome the status quo to engage the profession as advocates for differently-abled users.
Moderator: Robin Randall, AIA, ALEP, LEED BD+C, Principal & Director of PreK-12 Education, Legat Architects
