Perkins+Will Chicago, 410 North Michigan Avenue, Suite 1600
Douglas Smith, AIA, AICP, Managing Principal at Perkins+Will Chicago, will identify global and domestic trends and pressures impacting the urban public realm and what this portends for the future. Using a variety of real world examples of completed, in process and proposed project types, he will classify and compare a number of solutions for consideration here in Chicago, North American, and other global locations. Based on real-world research, the participants will learn the community economic and social benefits of an improved public realm. Doug will conclude with a review of the forces that are resisting the enhancement of our environment.
