YAF Volunteer Outing at the Greater Chicago Food Depository
AIA Chicago, 35 East Wacker Drive, #250
Volunteer for a great cause with the Young Architects Forum! We will be participating in a "repack" at the Greater Chicago Food Depository. From the GCFD: "A lot of the food we receive at our warehouse comes in bulk quantities and volunteers are scheduled to help us break it down into more manageable sizes. In a repack session you might be sorting produce, looking over a shipment of bread, or repacking bulk dry goods (cereal, pasta, rice) into smaller quantities. Together, we can properly and efficiently distribute quality food to participating food pantries, soup kitchens and shelters in Cook County."
This is a great opportunity to fufill 2.5 out of the required 80 IDP Leadership and Service Requirements hours.
AIA Chicago will provide transportation to and from the facility, located at 4100 W. Ann Lurie Place. The bus will depart AIA Chicago promptly at 5:30pm. The volunteer session is from 6:00-8:30pm, after which the bus will make drop offs at Union Station and Clark & Lake.
*Registration is now closed. If you are interested in attending, please email Kelsey Kirkley, events manager.
