Peter Exley, FAIA, Awarded with AIA Chicago 2021 President’s Citation

Peter Exley, FAIA, RIBA, 2021 National President of The American Institute of Architects and 2013 Past President of AIA Chicago has received the Presidential Citation award from the Chapter. 2021 AIA Chicago President, Jessica Figenholtz, AIA, commended Peter on behalf of his spirited service to the Institute and our profession; advocating for diversity, equity, and inclusion; leading the architectural charge against climate change; and representing Chicago with the upmost professionalism.
Exley, a native of Harrowgate, England, and Chicago transplant, is the co-Founder of Architecture is Fun, an architecture and design firm whose projects include the DuPage County Children's Museum, Ronald McDonald House in Oak Lawn, IL, and named the 2017 AIA Chicago Firm of the Year recipient. Exley was named AIA Chicago 1996 AIA Chicago Young Architect.
Exley earned a Bachelor of Arts in Architectural Studies with first-class honors from Newcastle University School of Architecture, Planning and Landscape, and a Master of Architecture from the University of Pennsylvania. Prior to founding Architecture is Fun, he worked for Skidmore, Owings & Merrill and Venturi, Scott Brown and Associates.
