Architects Advocate for Action on Climate Change - Meeting

All are welcome to attend the next meeting of Architects Advocate for Action on Climate Change.
On July 22, 2015, a group of Chicago architecture firms launched an online initiative called Architects Advocate for Action on Climate Change. Architects Advocate is a public outreach campaign that gives voice to important issues affecting healthy and livable communities and cities. As of today, 176 firms have agreed to display the banner on their firm website.
"Climate science has yielded dramatic, potentially irreversible changes to our communities," states Tom Jacobs, AIA (Krueck + Sexton), who helped launch the initiative with Peter Exley, FAIA (Architecture Is Fun, Inc.). "The core of the initiative is the belief that healthy communities are a civil right, that we need to enact meaningful legislation to mitigate climate change, and that architects need to publicly speak out on behalf of this goal by sharing their knowledge of creating livable communities."
The Architects Advocate campaign takes form as a website banner that firms place on their homepages. The banner makes two statements:
-- As architects dedicated to healthy and livable communities, and guided by scientific consensus and reason, we advocate for action on climate change;
-- Join us in supporting candidates for public office who affirm climate science and are dedicated to enacting meaningful and needed legislation.
Firms have been invited to adopt both sentences; however, the campaign is flexible, allowing those who have concerns about adopting the proposed second sentence to leave it out.
