Architectural Acoustics: Controlling & Optimizing Sound in the Built Environment

A discussion of the physics and nature of sound, as they relate to architectural acoustics in general and senior living buildings, specifically. This course will share details and use examples to cover design criteria, such as NRC, CAC, STC and IIC factors of sound control, for the specification of building materials and systems.

Our speakers are from USG: architectural services representative Stacy Craig and senior acoustics researcher Andrew Schmidt.

  • Discuss the physics of sound and acoustical terminology
  • Recognize noise control measurements and their meanings
  • Identify acoustical issues in senior living buildings and their different areas
  • Locate guidelines specific to noise control, as they relate to healthcare environments
