Celebrate 150 Years of The Water Tower & Pumping Station – and AIA Chicago
Water Tower and Pumping Station on North Michigan and Chicago avenues - and beyond
Join the City of Chicago and a multitude of partner organizations for a day-long neighborhood festival celebrating the 150th anniversary of the historic Chicago Water Tower—built in 1869 by architect William W. Boyington and one of the only buildings to survive the Great Chicago Fire. Free programming will include family activities, lectures, tours, theatre performances, public art, and exhibitions—plus food trucks, dining discounts, and complimentary admission to nearby cultural institutions.
Organizers include the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events, Chicago Department of Water Management, MWRD, Magnificent Mile Association, Water Tower Arts District, Lookingglass Theatre Company, and many others - including AIA Chicago whose founding president was William W. Boyington!
