Jaime Torres Carmona, AIA, LEED AP, Principal and Founder of Canopy / architecture + design, LLC, will lead of a tour of Oso Apartments in the Albany Park community. This project is a new, ground-up, structural precast, affordable housing development expected to be completed by the end of this summer. Developed by Evergreen Real Estate Group, the 45,000 sf, five-story development includes 48 one- and two-bedroom units, designed to create a vibrant development for low- to moderate-income residents and for every stage of life. Oso Apartments features a sustainable, community-based design while bringing accessible affordability to the neighborhood.
To make this project happen, Canopy A+D partnered with the 35th Ward office of Alderman Carlos Ramirez-Rosa, North River Commission, Communities United, Chicago Housing Authority, Illinois Housing Development Authority, and used ComEd’s affordable housing new construction Energy Efficiency Program.
This tour is limited to 25 AIA Chicago members. Clothing and footwear appropriate for a construction site is required.
