Content Creation and Innovation: Libraries for the Digital Future

AIA Chicago, 35 East Wacker Drive, Suite 250, Chicago

The Education KC invites you to explore the latest trends in the design of academic libraries. Join us for a presentation and a panel discussion review of new concepts that redefine how we share information, create content and innovate.

In the age of digital information, libraries are evolving to remain the life blood of thriving communities, new schools and great universities. They have the capacity to connect – by creating points of intersections between people, disciplines, and ideas. From cyber cafes to makerspaces and innovation centers, interactive elements and digital studios, libraries continue to shift and reinvent to embrace new technologies and space programs.

Janette Blackburn, FAIA, principal of Shepley Bulfinch (Boston), will explore the latest trends in library design to best utilize space and technology, balancing research, patron needs, and social relationships.

Greg Moquin, CTS, senior audiovisual system engineer and associate principal at Shen Milsom & Wilke (SM&W) in Chicago, will address the new technologies required to deliver the latest library concepts.
