CRAN Chat: Mentoring Our Staff

Online

How do you develop your staff and train them to carry out the work of the firm? Mentoring is both formal and informal. Formal mentoring includes supporting someone on the path to licensure, encouraging that person’s professional development by providing work assignments that will guide them through developing the skills identified by the Architectural Experience Program® (AXP®), administered by NCARB. It may also include structured activities you initiate to show your staff how you want things done. Imparting your firm’s culture and work processes every day is also informal, to the benefit of both mentor and mentee. We will be sharing and learning from each other, led by Julie Hacker, FAIA (Stuart Cohen & Julie Hacker Architects), with a goal of enhancing our own awareness of how we are mentoring, how we might do it better and retain our well-trained employees. This conversation is intended for principals of firms doing custom residential design
