Design Smarter with Structural Steel: Multifamily, Hotel, and Student Housing

AIA Chicago, 35 East Wacker Drive, Suite 250

Designers constantly face the challenges of providing maximum usable area, versatility in design, and creating high-quality buildings with a strong identity in the multifamily, hotel and student housing marketplace. Join AISC (American Institute of Steel Construction) to uncover economical and innovative solutions in response to these challenges.  Structural steel has long been recognized as a high strength, precise framing material with a fast speed of erection. Jayshree Shah, AIA, NCARB, LEED AP BD+C, and Matthew Brady, P.E., LEED GA, will provide you with effective solutions for designing within the limitations of building area and height in tight design and construction schedules.

Jayshree has nearly a decade of experience designing and practicing architecture in the city of Chicago.  She has a strong focus on the multi-story residential market with research on apartments, condominiums, hotels, and student housing projects throughout the country. She will provide an overview of structural steel concepts that will focus on designing the structural system to support architectural and interior goals. In addition, Jayshree will present several case studies on current or upcoming multi-story residential projects which benefit from innovations in structural steel systems.

Matthew ihas thirteen years of experience in market development, construction, forensics, and  design of buildings, bridges, manufacturing and facilities in the midwest. He is the AISC Upper Midwest regional engineer dedicated to assisting the design and construction community with technical solutions and resources for structural steel systems. Matthew is available to help assess the viability of a structural steel option on upcoming projects.

LUNCH WILL BE PROVIDED.
