Each year, NCARB’s annual data publication, NCARB by the Numbers, provides an exclusive, definitive look at trends along the path to architectural licensure. Join NCARB CEO Michael Armstrong to explore highlights from the latest edition and learn how NCARB uses data to impact the licensure process. Plus, dive into data surrounding the public’s perception of licensure and see how NCARB promotes thought leadership in architectural regulation and beyond. This session will include a brief presentation and a Q&A period. We'll socialize at 5:30 until the presentation begins at approximately 5:45 pm.
NCARB celebrates its 100th anniversary this year. Did you know it was located in Chicago for its first twenty years?
Speaker: Michael Armstrong has been the CEO of NCARB since 2011. During his tenure, he has overseen the launch of a new version of the Architect Registration Examination® (ARE®), the overhaul of the Architectural Experience Program® (AXP®), the introduction of NCARB’s Integrated Path to Architectural Licensure (IPAL) initiative, the celebration and recognition of the organization’s 100th anniversary, and more.
Prior to joining NCARB in 2011, Mike held senior positions at the International Code Council, ICF International, FEMA, and the Colorado Governor's Office of Energy Conservation. Mike began his career with 10 years as an assistant city attorney specializing in land use, zoning and planning, code enforcement, historic preservation, and human resources management. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in English and Bachelor of Science in Journalism from the University of Colorado at Boulder, and a Juris Doctorate from the Pepperdine University School of Law in Malibu, CA, where he served on the Law Review.
Mike is an adjunct professor at The George Washington University and a former trustee on the Association of State Floodplain Managers Foundation Board. He is a member of the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) and the District of Columbia Preservation League. Mike has authored a number of articles for professional journals, and he has provided testimony before committees of the U.S. Congress. He is also licensed to practice law in Colorado and before the U.S. Supreme Court.
