Eco-Cruises!
Chicago Line Cruises, just north of Centennial Fountain at 465 North McClurg Court (on Ogden Slip)
The Chicago River is a complex intersection of ecology, architecture, and urban design. While less attention has been paid to Chicago’s ecological history, it remains the basis from which our city developed and holds a key to Chicago’s sustainable future. Experts in ecology, planning, and design will engage riders on this 90-minute cruise to discuss topics such as the Chicago Region’s ecological significance on a global scale; Achieving ecological balance in an urbanized world; Delivering ecological conservation and fresh water through balanced urban and economic development. The cruises will introduce avenues to better understand the critical role of humans in creating and caring for urban nature, and provide cues for achieving higher environmental qualities in our city.
