Evanston’s Design Heritage: Architects, Designers & Planners
Online
Daniel Burnham, FAIA, lived in Evanston, and his image is on the cover of Evanston’s Design Heritage: Architects, Designers & Planners which was published this summer by Design Evanston. The book profiles 127 notable architects, designers, landscape architects, and planners who have lived and worked in Evanston, with an introduction by public television producer Geoffrey Baer. Founded in 1980, Design Evanston is a not-for-profit advocacy organization promoting good design in Evanston, Illinois.
Design Evanston members Stuart Cohen, FAIA, Kris Hartzell, Tom Hofmaier, Heidrun Hoppe, Laura Saviano, Bob Teska, and Jack Weiss spent nearly two years researching candidates, cataloging selections, gathering photographs, verifying information, writing essays and captions, editing and designing the book. How did they do it? Attend and learn!
The 212-page book is available in a softbound edition for $15 or a hardbound edition for $25.
