Fall 2016 Mitchell Lecture Series: Assemble - Jane Hall and Alex McLean

Jane Hall and Alex McLean, members of the firm Assemble, will discuss their recent work.Assemble are a collective based in London who work across the fields of art, architecture and design. They began working together in 2010 and are comprised of 20 members. Assemble champion a working practice that is interdependent and collaborative, seeking to actively involve the public as both participant and collaborator in the on-going realisation of the work.
Jane Hall is the inaugural recipient of the British Council Lina Bo Bardi Fellowship (2013) and founding member of the architecture collective Assemble. Jane’s own projects within the collective focus on collaborative practice between artists and architects, explored through exploratory installation and exhibition design. Alex McLean co-founded Assemble before completing his formal training at the Irwin S. Chanin School of Architecture at The Cooper Union. His work with the collective focused on two projects, The Cineroleum (2010) and Folly for a Flyover (2011). Alex is a recipient of the Architectural League of New York’s Deborah J. Norden Fund (2013) and currently practises in New York City.
