Generative Space: A Conversation with Wayne Ruga, FAIA, PhD, FIIDA, Hon. FASID

AIA Chicago, 35 East Wacker Drive, #250

You are invited to an informal lunchtime conversation with Dr. Wayne Ruga, FAIA, FIIDA, Hon. FASID, Founder and President of the The CARITAS Project. Topics of converation will include the concept of generative space, the Generative Space Awards, and "A Place to Flourish." Generative Space Design is the performance booster of environmental outcomes, an innovative design practice that improves individual lives, organizational effectiveness, and/or overall community well-being. Initially developed through a UK government-funded, 3-year long research project, the continued research and field-testing of 'Generative Space Design' - since 2003 - has been applied by leaders and their respective organizations in six countries, and has been extensively peer-reviewed through scores of presentations at conferences and professional meetings, as well as through published articles in journals and the industry press.

This 'Fireside Chat' is an opportunity to learn about the need for this approach, its background, and in very simple terms, how to design with Generative Space. This brown-bag lunch program will be an interactive and highly participatory discussion with a handout provided.

Wayne Ruga is a California registered architect with numerous awards, honors, and distinctions.  Currently residing in England, Wayne has more than 45 years of professional experience, and is a recognized international leader in design innovation.

Imagine living in a world that naturally provides us — each and every one of us — with all the environmental conditions that create an experience of flourishing. Imagine our living spaces being like this, or our workplaces, or even our communities. Let’s even be so bold to imagine that it isn't ‘this place’ or ‘that place’ — let's imagine that we can flourish in every place. The CARITAS Project provides knowledge-based resources in the field of healthcare, namely how systemic and sustainable improvements in healthcare can be achieved through ‘generative space’. Deadline for submittals to the Generative Space Award is 15 June 2016.
