Insights and Tour: Taylor Street Apartments and Little Italy Branch Library - FULL!
Little Italy Branch Library, 1336 West Taylor Street, Chicago
THIS TOUR IS NOW FULL.
Tour of the newly constructed Taylor Street (Little Italy) Branch Library and Apartments. The mixed-use building is a collaboration between the Chicago Public Library, Chicago Housing Authority, and developer Related Midwest, and is one of three such projects across the City. It combines a neighborhood branch library with affordable housing above. The architect for the Taylor Street Apartments and branch library was Skidmore, Owings & Merrill LLP, with interiors by NIA Architects, Inc. Representatives from the developer and the architecture team will lead the presentation and tour of this recently completed project.
Learn about best practices in affordable housing and new models of community integrated affordable housing. We will also discuss the challenges of design for affordable housing as part of a larger, mixed use, urban project.
Meet in the Community Room of the library at 10:30 am.
