A Conversation with Ron Krueck + Mark Sexton: From There to Here
Herman Miller, 222 West Merchandise Mart Plaza, Suite 321
Chicago firm Krueck+Sexton Architects has made its mark with designs that draw from classic modernism as well as from current architectural discourse. Come hear a conversation with partners Ron Krueck, FAIA and Mark Sexton, FAIA on the history of their 40-year partnership and their new monograph, From There to Here.
Both Krueck and Sexton studied architecture at the Illinois Institute of Technology, where they were steeped in the pure modernism of Mies van der Rohe. From this foundation, they developed a distinctive visual language influenced by art as much as by architecture, as evidenced in their impeccably designed and constructed buildings. As Krueck writes in the book’s introduction: "The path of our work was advanced by the making of our work. Making established another understanding - of the connections, of the space required between the parts, and of the delineation of appropriate edges that would create a continuous movement.”
Refreshments provided. The presentation will begin at 6:00pm, reception to follow.
