Get Inspired! Design Smarter, Safer, and Greener with Innovation in Wood Structural Systems Presenter: Andrew Dingman, LAMCO
Wood is a frequently overlooked building material for light-medium-commercial construction including mid-rise, multi-family, and mixed-use projects. This course features several North American examples that highlight the surprising capabilities of this natural resource. Many architects, engineers, and project owners often default to steel and concrete instead of wood for wall, floor, and roof assemblies.
Bird Friendly Building Design with Acid-etched Glass Presenter: Danik Dancause, Walker Glass
Fundamental to a building’s design is its seamless integration with the natural landscape. In many settings, the need to reduce bird collisions calls for innovative approaches to making building glazing safer for birds. This course provides in-depth knowledge of acid-etched glass solutions in bird-friendly building design. We will provide the most up-to-date and detailed information to help you understand how the risk of bird collision against building facades can be significantly reduced with appropriate acid-etched glass solutions. This session will cover critical aspects, such as bird migration and behavior, risk factors, key research findings, product testing, standards and guidelines as well as types of acid etched glass solutions and a comparative analysis with other options, to facilitate and improve the decision-making process.
Acoustic Separation using Motor-Driven Operable Partitions Presenter: Don Davis, Skyfold
In this seminar, design professionals, general contractors, owner or facility managers will gain a thorough understanding of the available motorized acoustically rated movable partitions used for space division in interior applications.
Making Sense of Sealants Presenters: Dan Garnett & Christian Guerard - Adfast
Participants will learn the different families of sealants and how to choose the correct product for each application.
Glass Partition Design Presenter: Jen Delmonico - Muraflex
This course is designed to inform design professionals on acoustical, aesthetic, functional and safety features of glass partitions.
Digital Experiences in the Built Environment Presenter: Conor McGill - Float4
Take a deep dive with Float4 as we explore the proliferation of responsive environments and showcases how physical spaces are evolving to become more interactive through the emergence of myriad technologies.
