Ragdale Ring Prize: Conversation + 2018 Winners

The Cliff Dwellers, 200 South Michigan Avenue, 22nd floor, Chicago

2018 winner: NOODLE SOUP by Galo Canizares and Stephanie Sang Delgado (Columbus, OH)

Walker Johnson, FAIA (Johnson Lasky Kindelin) and David Woodhouse, FAIA (Woodhouse Tinucci Architects) invite you to a presentation of this year’s Radgale Ring Prize winners and a conversation featuring past winners of the Ring Prize, moderated by Zurich Esposito, Hon. AIA, executive vice president of AIA Chicago. Hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar will be available.

The annual Ragdale Ring competition invites experimental reinterpretations of the original ring, designed in 1912 by architect Howard Van Doren Shaw, FAIA, on the grounds Ragdale, his family’s summer home in Lake Forest, as an outdoor theater for plays written by his wife, Frances Shaw. The competition provides a team of ten artists, architects, landscape architects, and designers with the opportunity to devise and construct a 200-seat performance venue within the context of a fully supported design-build residency on the historic Ragdale campus. The competition presents exciting opportunities to explore intersections of history, architecture, original performance, and public investigation.

Today Ragdale is a nonprofit artists community, offering nearly 200 residencies and fellowships annually to creative professionals of all types, making Ragdale one of the largest interdisciplinary artists communities in the country.
