Significant Changes Between 2012 and 2015 International Energy Conservation Codes

Cannon Design, 225 North Michigan, Suite 1100, Chicago

Ramesh Gulatee, LifeCare Design Studio, illustrate the scope, applicability and regulatory framework for the design, construction, occupancy and operations of buildings to make them more efficient, reduce waste, and have a positive impact on health, safety and welfare of the public. The International Energy Conservation Code (IECC), in conjunction with the International Green Construction Code (IgCC), are green codes that serve as an overlay to the International Code Council (ICC) family of buildings codes. The energy code, like all other International Code Council (ICC) codes, follows a three-year code development process which moves from a code development/change proposals stage through committee action hearings and code action committees.

The presentation will briefly describe the chapter content and conclude with available options for compliance as it relates to the building enclosure:

--Scope and Applicability

--ICC’s Code Development Process
