AIA Chicago’s Healthcare Knowledge Community (HCKC) and the Association of Medical Facility Professionals (AMFP), Chicago chapter, are excited to continue their panel series focused on population health. For this virtual event we have recruited health strategy experts and owner’s representatives to lead us through a discussion on population health in the Chicago metropolitan area. From the lens of data informed master planning paired with reimbursement strategies and approval processes, our panel will frame a discussion about development opportunities that can address unequal access to care in Chicago communities. We will conclude with a case study from Friend Health that will provide primary care services in a strategic development corridor located in the Woodlawn neighborhood.
Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions throughout the program.

Speakers
Vlad Torskiy, MHA, ACHE, AORN, IAIA, LEAN Healthcare CP, SmithGroup: Vlad is a principal and health strategist, and he leads the national Health Strategy practice at SmithGroup which works with health systems seeking data-driven operational, strategic, and master plans to guide future success. He has over 30 years of experience working for institutional clients in the U.S. and throughout the world.
Doug King, AIA, NCARB, ACHA, Project Management Advisors, Inc.:Doug has over 40 years of strategic advisory and planning experience. His project portfolio ranges from large scale, comprehensive medical centers to smaller scale community hospitals. Doug offers a regulatory, technical, infrastructure, and design focus to his clients. Doug is a member of the 2021 Urban Land Institute (ULI) Health Leaders Network and has presented extensively at healthcare and urban design conferences on the subject of Population Health Management as an urban design challenge.
Terrell Anderson, Chief Operating Officer, Friend Health: Terrell joined Friend Health in June 2018 and has more than 20 years of experience. He previously served as Chief Operating Officer for NextLevel Health, an Illinois Medicaid Managed Care Organization. He also has an extensive finance background, working at BMO Harris Bank and serving as COO at Shorebank/Urban Partnership Bank. Terrell holds a B. Science from Central Michigan University and an MBA from Northwestern University, Kellogg School of Management.
Roderic Walton, AIA, NCARB, NOMA, MoodyNolan: Roderic is a principal of MoodyNolan with 25 years of experience in Ohio and Illinois. His work focuses on healthcare, aligning architecture with advocacy. He has authored and contributed to a large body of written work regarding equity in healthcare and the impact of the Covid-19, with specific focus on communities of color. His publications, presentations, and community engagement strategies are directed towards enhancing the experience of patients in under-served and disadvantaged communities.
