Summer Tour South: Saieh Hall for Economics and Gordon Parks Arts Hall at the University of Chicago

Join us to see two recent projects at the University of Chicago.

The tour will begin at the Saieh Hall for Economics at 5757 South University Avenue. The conversion of the former Chicago Theological Seminary (1928), two adjacent houses, and a new connecting structure into Saieh Hall was completed in 2014. The tour will include the site and public spaces: new entrance and lobby; new stair; restored student spaces in the historic building (chapels, cloister, grad loft); and student and work spaces in the addition.

We will then walk to Gordon Parks Arts Hall, a 2015 addition to the UChicago Lab School, at 1362 East 59th Street. A brief discussion of the building will be conducted by the architects and a representative from the owner, followed by a tour of the facility: 700-seat auditorium, 250-seat black box theater, lobby, enclosed courtyard, music classrooms and practice rooms, visual and digital arts studios.
