Sustainability Through Preservation: The Rebirth of Chicago’s Historic Buildings
AIA Chicago, 35 East Wacker Drive, #250
“The greenest building is the one that’s already built,” is a common phrase used in the profession. The repair and retrofitting of existing and historic buildings not only saves precious human and natural resources but also adds value to client portfolios as well as their communities. This presentation from two of the profession’s leading architects working on historic structures in Chicago, Tom Jacobs, AIA (Krueck + Sexton Architects) and Scott Utter (AltusWorks), will offer greater insight into the process of meeting the challenges of both preservation and sustainability goals and guidelines.
