The Power of Zero: Optimizing Value for Next Generation Green

35 East Wacker Drive, conference center in #260

Lisa Matthiessen, FAIA (Integral Group), will explores the cost implications and design strategies of building to “Next Generation” standards, using statistical analysis and case studies. Strategies that enable cost effective delivery of these next generation green projects will be discussed. Case studies are drawn from the work of firms who have completed many cutting-edge projects, showcasing strategies for managing costs, from design and planning processes and strategies, through construction and extending to operations and occupant behavior.

She will discuss projects at various scales – from individual buildings to campuses. The target attendee has intermediate knowledge of sustainability and is a designer, builder, owner, or facilities manager.

Speaker: Lisa Fay Matthiessen brings her deep green experience to the Integral Group Los Angeles Design Studio, where she manages and oversees operations for this region. Lisa has 15 years of experience leading sustainable initiatives at leading firms such as Buro Happold and Davis Langdon. During that time, Lisa was involved in seminal research into the cost implications of sustainable design. With an architectural background, Lisa offers a distinct perspective that allows her to provide insightful consulting services to clients that focus on sustainability and integration. Lisa has also been very involved with the USGBC and the development of LEED. One of the original LEED Faculty, Lisa was named a LEED Fellow in 2012. Last October, Lisa was recognized as one of "The Most Powerful Women in Sustainability: Honorable Mentions" by Green Building & Design magazine.
