Who is changing the Fulton Market district? Hartshorne Plunkard Architecture (HPA), for one. Founded in 1987 by Ray Hartshorne, AIA and Jim Plunkard, AIA, the firm’s projects include new buildings as well as historic renovations, such as the Chicago Athletic Association Hotel, Soho House Chicago, Essex on the Park, and Hampton Inn-Chicago Motor Club. HPA received the AIA Chicago Firm of the Year Award in 2018.

Learn more about the firm through a visit to its office, followed by a walking tour, and concluding with socializing at an area bar.

Schedule

5:30 pm               Meet at HPA for a brief presentation on the history of the Fulton Market District and a short tour of the office, beginning at 5:45.

6:00 pm               Walking tour led by HPA preservation experts, traversing Fulton and area streets, with stops at several of its local projects.

7:00 pm               Tour ends at a nearby watering hole for a drink (everyone pays for themselves).
