Young Architects Forum Tour & Social: mHUB + The Dawson
mHUB, 965 West Chicago Avenue, Chicago
Join the Young Architects Forum at a tour of mHUB's facility in River West. mHUB promotes growth in manufacturing through physical product innovation and commercialization. mHUB offers programs, establishes partnerships and runs initiatives that provide new and existing manufacturers with the tools, resources and networks required to build and grow sustainable businesses. The 63,000 square-foot facility contains 10 fabrication labs, including electronics, plastic fabrication, metals, textiles and rapid prototyping, as well as a microfactory for small production runs. The building recently housed Motorola Mobility's prototyping center, but the manufacturing connections at 965 W. Chicago Avenue run even deeper. In 1916, the site was home to the Milwaukee Iron and Metal Company, and neighboring businesses included a washing machine manufacturer and the Werner piano factory. Throughout the decades, the area has played an integral role in Chicago's manufacturing industry.
Meet at the front entrance off Sangamon Street at 6:00 pm.
After the tour we'll head to grab a drink at The Dawson. If you can't make the tour, meet us at the bar around 7:00 pm. The Dawson is located at 730 West Grand Avenue, right at the Grand/Blue Line stop.
